What Is A Discipleship Training School?
Discipleship Training School (DTS)
With more than 50 years of experience, our mission in Guatemala, specializes in training, evangelism, and mercy ministries. We mobilize young people to fulfill the great commission with a goal to bring the gospel to every tribe and nation. Intensive discipleship is necessary for our youth to complete this challenge and so our center offers a 5-month course to “know God and make Him known”.
During the first 3 months, our students are introduced to an amazing God with an amazing vision for each of them through the Discipleship Training School (DTS). Besides gaining understanding of the Word of God and personal times of devotion, each young person is invited to join our mission and live alongside missionaries from all walks of life whose goal is to bring the gospel to all the world. Students then, leave the YWAM center for our 2-month practical phase in which they have hands-on experience putting into practice what they have learned during the lecture phase. This includes evangelism, Bible teaching, and acts of service. Don´t wait any longer. Come and join us in bringing Jesus into all the world and become a missionary today!
Discipleship Training School (DTS)
The Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a Christian training course covering twelve weeks of powerful and relevant teaching with another eight weeks of mission outreach.
DTS is the foundation for a life of Knowing God and Making Him Known. The 12-week lecture phase is designed to examine Biblical foundations and to encourage the development of Christ-like character through the personal application of truth. You will also be equipped to become a messenger of God and be challenged to share your faith with others as God gives you His heart for the world.
The DTS is designed to encourage students in character development, cultivating a living relationship with God, and identifying their individual gifts and callings to God. Cross-cultural exposure and global awareness are special emphases throughout the course, preparing the students to reach current and future generations and answer the call to “Go into all the world and disciple all nations” Matthew 28:19.
Some of the topics you will study are:
The Character and Nature of God
Hearing the Voice of God
Father Heart of God
Intercession and Worship
Jesus and the Cross
Biblical World View
Evangelism &World Missions
You will learn how and why:
- God seeks to make Himself known to all people.
- God desires to have a
relationshipwith people and share His heart with them.
- God wants to impart a life-changing understanding of Himself and His ways.
- God wants to reveal The Holy Spirit, showing aspects of His power and truth.
- God encourages us to respond personally to Him in worship, prayer
- God longs for us to nurture a love and hunger for the Bible, to read it in such a way that transforms our beliefs, values
- God is always speaking to
us,and desires for us to cultivate the lifestyle of hearing and recognizing His voice.
Following three months of lecture phase, your DTS will head off on a two-month cross-cultural outreach.
Outreach teams go and serve the lost wherever they are, and share the hope of Christ in many ways: evangelism, discipleship, sports, drama, youth ministry, teaching, music, practical service, prayer, media, healthcare – we do it all.
We demonstrate the love of God to people through our lives and through the gifts that He’s given us.
Teams regularly partner with local churches and YWAM ministries to strengthen their ministry and provide for follow up discipleship. Your final week will be spent back in Guatemala City, de-briefing and being equipped to continue with everything that God has done in your life over the five months.
